FIFA says a decision on whether Morocco or Spain will host the 2030 World Cup final has not yet been made, despite competing claims from football officials in both countries.

Moroccan Football Federation President Fouzi Lakjaa says the final will be played at the new 115-thousand-seat Hassan II Stadium being built near Casablanca. However, FIFA says the host venue will be decided "in due course."

Spanish football officials are also pushing to host the final, arguing that Spain's status as reigning men's and women's world champions strengthens its case. Potential venues include Barcelona's renovated Camp Nou and Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with opening matches also being staged in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to mark the tournament's centenary.
