Actress Jasmine Guy has responded to online criticism about her appearance following the premiere of Netflix’s A Different World sequel.

The 64-year-old actress reprised her role as Whitley Gilbert nearly four decades after the original series debuted, prompting some social media users to comment on how her appearance has changed.

Guy addressed the criticism Monday, saying the internet can be particularly harsh toward women as they grow older.

She said ageing naturally brings change, but stressed that beauty, style and joy have no expiration date, while encouraging people to spend less time judging appearances and more time enjoying life.
