Plans to honor Olympic champion Julien Alfred are moving forward, with the Government of Saint Lucia confirming that a statue celebrating her historic win at the 2024 Paris Olympics has entered the advanced planning and design phase.

Alfred made history as Saint Lucia's first Olympic gold medalist, clinching victory in the women's 100 metres with a record-breaking time of 10.72 seconds.

Her triumph put the island nation on the global sporting map and stands as one of the proudest moments in its athletic history.
