The Barbados Tridents snapped a four-game losing streak in style Sunday night, cruising to an eight-wicket win over the Saint Lucia Kings at Kensington Oval in the Republic Bank CPL.
Put in to bat, the Kings raced to 51 for 1 inside six overs behind a quickfire Kamil Pooran innings, but Mujeeb Ur Rahman's breakthrough dismissal of Pooran (37) flipped the game. Mujeeb and Jakeem Pollard choked the middle order, and despite a defiant 34 from Roston Chase, the Kings limped to 138 for 6, losing three wickets in the final five overs alone. Mujeeb finished with 3 for 22; Daniel Sams added 2 for 20.
Barbados' chase started fast, with Brandon King and Zachary Carter putting on 41 before both fell. That brought Quinton de Kock and Rivaldo Clarke together, and the pair eased through an unbroken 76-run stand to seal the win with 13 balls unused — de Kock finishing on 47*, Clarke on 36*.
It's the Tridents' third win of the season and second over the Kings. Barbados continues its homestand against the Patriots Thursday, while Saint Lucia faces the Warriors Wednesday in its final group game.
